AASCB - moving to New Management Company November 15, 2021

Dear AASCB Member,

The American Association of State Counseling Boards (AASCB) Executive Board would like to announce that effective Nov. 15, 2021, we will partner with the CLEAR Association Management Services (CAMS) to manage all AASCB daily operations.

The executive board engaged in an in-depth planning process and made the difficult decision to move away from the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE). We want to thank CCE for it’s support of AASCB, and in particular our Executive Director Jolie Long for her faithful and professional service. After reviewing several options, we determined CAMS could best assist us with reaching our strategic goals.

Transition

For the past month, CCE and CAMS staff have been working to transition all daily operations from Greensboro, North Carolina, to Nicholasville, Kentucky, AASCB’s new home. We expect a smooth transition with little to no disruption in services to our member boards and organizational affiliates.

AASCB leadership has and will continue to serve its membership throughout the transition. We are continuing our state board hangouts and regular meetings with our organizational affiliates. We are also responding to calls and emails from individuals seeking licensure endorsement and helping them navigate state board websites so that they are better informed before they reach out to you.

In addition, we have been preparing for the Special Meeting coming up Nov. 12, 2021, and we are planning our annual conference Feb. 4 and 18, 2022. Registration for both events is now open!

New Management: CLEAR Association Management Services

We also want to take this time to tell you more about the services CAMS offers and why we chose them to manage AASCB. CAMS provides management services to nonprofit organizations whose valuable work focuses on the protection of the public via the effective regulation of professions, occupations, trades, and facilities. Rules, regulations, statutes, and organizational structure show considerable variation, making the effective and efficient sharing of good practice an important tool for those charged with public protection.

CAMS provides a full spectrum of association management services, including:

Networking and information-sharing opportunities are the most highly valued among an association’s services, and CAMS meets this need through the provision of high-quality educational offerings, conferences, and workshops.

Introducing the New Executive Director

In addition, we want to introduce the new executive director of AASCB, Matt Grayson. Matt has nearly 25 years of experience in nonprofit association management, serving in positions focused on advocacy and government relations and as executive director of organizations focused on travel, agriculture, and government administrators. Matt holds bachelor’s degrees in political science and Russian/Eastern European studies from the University of Kentucky and a master’s in public administration from Martin School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Kentucky.

Future

AASCB is excited about this upcoming change!  Our mission is to promote regulatory excellence in the counseling profession by providing leadership, education, and services to our member boards. It is the AASCB executive board’s belief that this transition will allow us to strengthen our efforts to fulfill our mission. As always, AASCB leadership appreciates hearing from you. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Kevin Doyle
President of AASCB
