New Committee Opportunity and October Updates
Greetings Member Boards!
I hope this correspondence finds everyone well today. We have been quite busy since our Summit two months ago! I wanted to send out a correspondence to update everyone on several mission critical items discussed at the Summit and being put into action.
At the Summit, we discussed various ideas to provide value-add for our member boards. We also discussed ways that AASCB can lead the discussion and develop regulatory excellence in the counseling profession. Lastly, we discussed telecounseling and the request from our member boards for more guidance around this topic. To address these three topics, our executive board approved the creation of three working committees:
1) Regulatory Excellence Committee: This committee will explore regulatory standards across member boards and look to strengthen commonalities while reducing discrepancies. I am pleased to announce that Tony Onorato will be chairing this committee. He will be reaching out to various member boards in the next week. Please contact Jolie Long at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in serving on this committee.
2) Membership Benefits Committee: This committee will be exploring topics such as interactive forums for our member boards to participate in monthly, website updates, and keeping on top of issues pertinent to our member states. We are looking for a chairperson for this committee. If you are interested in chairing or serving, please contact Jolie Long at email@example.com.
3) Telecounseling Committee: This committee will be examining current standards that member boards have established in addition to best practice models that exist nationally. We are looking for a chairperson for this committee. If you are interested in chairing or serving, please contact Jolie Long at firstname.lastname@example.org.
These committees represent a critical path forward for AASCB to maintain our autonomy while increasing the membership benefits to our state boards. I am very excited to see what we can accomplish over the next several months!
